This page gives a lot of general information about banners and flags, our terms of business, and some of the terms used in our forms. Please see our Technical page if you would like more info about graphics and the printing process, and the Gallery Page for product images & info.

Product Type

From our point of view, the thing that distinguishes a Flag (ie. 1.5m by 1m finished with eyelets, rope & toggle or a sleeve) from a Rectangular Banner (ie. 4m by 1m with eyelets all round) is usually the way it is mounted. That's why we ask you for this information. If you require a Flag, please just fill in the 'Flag Width' and 'Flag Height' fields, and leave the Banner Style and Banner Size fields blank.

Banner Style

We make the banners for the telescopic pole or superpole in four standard styles. If you are intending to provide print-ready artwork, we can provide templates for the various sizes/formats. Please contact us if you require a template that is not here to download.

We normally use a 'blow through' flag fabric, suitable for outdoor use. The fabric has an open weave to allow air to pass through it. The main advantage of this particular fabric is that it is quiet in the wind, and it is durable. We can print on many other types of fabric, so do ask if you think there is something particular you would prefer. (ie: Fire retardant for indoor use)

Banner Size

For Feather banners, (as the 4 styles illustrated above) the 'Banner Size' refers to the length of the banner pole. Due to the curve in the pole, and by leaving ground clearance at the bottom part of the banner, this size does not reflect the actual height of the banner (which will be slightly less).

We can make Feather Banners smaller than 3m, but the smallest banner pole is 3m.

Feather banners average about 80cm wide at their maximum width. For the 3m pole height we tend to print to 75cm width to keep it looking in proportion to the height of the banner.

For Rectangular banners, the size represents the actual length of fabric, and does not need to be a standard length - if this is the case, please select 'Custom' and advise us of your requirements. The maximum width of fabric that we can actually print on is 1.5m. We can create (and have created..) items which are larger, provided that the presence of a seam(s) is acceptable. This may depend on the particular graphic or application.

Rectangular banners are not normally supplied with a banner pole - they are normally fixed using either eyelets, or ties.

Flag Height

The maximum width of fabric that we print on is currently 1.5m. So, depending on orientation, this is usually the maximum height/width of a flag. We can create (and have created..) items which are larger, provided that the presence of a seam(s) is acceptable. This may depend on the particular graphic or application.

Fire Retardant

Some applications, usually indoors, require the use of Fire Retardant fabrics. We can use FR fabrics if needed, but please note that we will not usually do so unless specified by you.

Usage

We ask you for this information so that we can properly advise you on the likely performance and lifespan of your banner. For example, if a flag or banner is to be permanently installed in hot, sunny, windy conditions then it's lifespan would be shortened.

The same goes for the banner pole. The pole we supply by default is a lightweight pole intended for use in light to medium wind conditions, and can break if used in high wind conditions. We do have different types of pole/banner, for example , the Super-pole and Bubble banner poles.

Please note that we cannot guarantee particular lifespans, as actual conditions of use are outside our control.

Mounting

For Feather, Flame, Blade and Original style banners, our quote includes the chosen pole type and ground stake. However, you may require additional mounting equipment, e.g. for hardstanding. We can supply a steel powdercoated or crossbase for this purpose. When used outdoors, it is designed to have a car parked on the baseplate. We have added a smaller square version for indoor use.

Job Type

If you supply us with a file that we can send directly to a printer with no further work, for instance by using one of our templates, then this is 'print ready( artwork supplied )'. If we find that there are any issues with this artwork, ie, in the finished quality of the printing, we will refer these to you rather than correct them ourselves, to avoid any confusion on costs.

If you supply us with artwork in any other form, then we must create the actual image that will be printed, aswell as actually printing it. This is 'Design and Print'. The amount of work that this entails is very variable, but if it is significant there will be an associated artwork charge, which you will be informed of before we go ahead with ( i.e. actually printing ) the job. We don't tend to have an artwork charge for text-only designs and vector supplied logo's, providing that the font is supplied or we have it already.

See our Technical page for more information about file formats that we accept, recommended resolutions, etc.

Latest Delivery Date

Our lead time ( which is from the point of approval in writing/email, to the date of delivery ) is usually 7-10 working days, so if you have a particular required date please let us know. If you are on a really tight deadline, just let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to meet your requirements. Rush jobs could incur an extra cost. Delivery charges are in addition to the cost of the work itself. See also our Payment Terms below.

Before going ahead with a job, we like to e-mail you a mock-up of what your banner will look like for your approval. If you would like to see a sample of any printed textiles, we can do this for you.

Payment Terms

We work on a pro forma basis ( i.e. we send you the goods only when our invoice has been paid ), unless you are a public body ( local authorities, schools, etc ). We do not normally set up account facilities for this type of product.
